Our Patient Care Team will be the first people you speak to at Metabolic GI Surgery Brisbane and they will provide you with all the essential information needed, before your appointment with one of our various specialists. Our Patient Care Team will provide you with exceptional administration support throughout your entire process. The team will assist in the organisation and explanation of all paperwork including explaining surgical estimates, medical certificates, hospital processes and ongoing appointments. We understand that this is a major life changing experience and we are here to help you get everything organised so you can relax and focus on your health.

Christine Egan: Registered Nurse

Christine is a highly skilled, specialist surgical clinic nurse who has dedicated her career to providing exceptional support and treatment to patients undergoing various general surgical procedures. She is known for her empathetic approach and her comprehensive understanding of surgical procedures, patient management, and
recovery processes.

Chris’ expertise extends to include bariatric surgery patients, ensuring they receive the highest level of care and support at every stage of their journey. Her career has been defined by a commitment to improving the lives of patients living with obesity and related health issues.

Christine is a proud member of the Australian and New Zealand Metabolic and Obesity Surgery Society (ANZMOSS) and the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO). She frequents conferences and workshops hosted by these organisations, staying updated with the latest advancements and best practices in bariatric medicine.

Clare: Clinical Nurse | Oesophageal Function

Clare is a clinical nurse who specialises in oesophageal function which is how your food pipe that runs between your mouth and stomach is working. She is driven to support people who experience symptoms of reflux and issues impacting their eating and drinking. She provides an exceptional standard of patient-focused care to people with complex health needs throughout their manometry and pH procedure journey.

She commenced and coordinates the Oesophageal Function Testing Service at STARS Hospital and led training including support as a Clinical Teaching Fellow. Clare has experience as a senior endoscopy nurse and attends the Australasia Neurogastroenterology and Motility Masterclass and conferences run by Gastroenterological Nursing College of Australia, Gastroenterological Society of Australia and the World Congress for Esophageal Diseases to remain up to date in her practice. Clare has comprehensive knowledge to assist people so they can reach their best outcome.

Clare is also a member of the Australian and New Zealand Metabolic and Obesity Surgery Society (ANZMOSS) who deeply appreciates each person’s individual weight loss journey.

Outside of work, Clare enjoys making precious memories with family including her two children, dog and chickens. She enjoys the outdoors, playing guitar and dancing.
